Information about GreenLine student cards and free public transport rights.

Important information for students and parents

Green Line cards - free public transport for students | school year 2026-2027

ADI GREEN LINE - VALEA JIULUI informs students in pre-university education and their parents/legal representatives about the issuing, updating and use of nominal free transport cards, in accordance with the provisions of Pre-university Education Law no. 198/2023.

Have you not received a Green Line card yet?

For the first card issue, the following documents are required:

Students over 14 years old:

identity card, original;
student booklet endorsed for the 2026-2027 school year or a certificate issued by the school;
card issue request, available at the travel-title sales counter or on the ADI GreenLine website;
documents required for personal-data processing, available at the counter.

Students under 14 years old:

birth certificate, copy or original;
document proving domicile/residence, where applicable;
student booklet endorsed for the 2026-2027 school year or a certificate issued by the school;
card issue request completed by the parent/legal representative, available at the counter or on the ADI GreenLine website;
documents required for personal-data processing, available at the counter.

Do you already have a Green Line card?

You do not need to request a new card. The existing nominal GREEN LINE card will continue to be used by updating/loading the travel right for the student free-transport facility, under the conditions established by ADI GREEN LINE.

Where are cards issued?

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 07:00-15:00.

Important! The Green Line card is nominal and non-transferable and must be validated on every trip. Any other person travelling with a student's card is considered to be travelling without a valid title. Students who benefit from free transport must carry the card and validate it every time they use GreenLine public transport.

Exception: only children up to 7 years old may travel without a card. Students must carry their nominal card when using public transport in Valea Jiului, together with their student booklet.

As the 2026-2027 school year approaches, students and parents/legal representatives are advised to complete the required formalities in time, to avoid congestion at issuing points.

Free transport for students

Students benefit from free transport on all GreenLine routes, under Law 198/2023 and applicable regulations.

Beneficiaries

Students using GreenLine VJ public transport, under the conditions provided by applicable legislation.

Coverage

The free-transport facility is valid on all GreenLine public transport lines.

Supporting documents

The student travel pass is loaded at e-ticket centres, based on supporting documents.

Validity of the facility

The validity period is linked to the school year.

Free transport is valid throughout the school year, as defined by the order of the Minister of Education at the beginning of the school year.

Loading the cards

Student passes are loaded at GreenLine e-ticket centres.

Please validate the card on every trip and keep the required proof documents with you when applicable.
